The exceptional rise of the Guadiana River has flooded roads and left boats adrift in Alcoutim, in a scenario not seen for 29 years. Authorities are maintaining surveillance and rescue operations along the banks.
According to the official, the water level “is stable, at about six metres, and is expected to start decreasing during the low tide period.”
In Alcoutim, various regions are still experiencing flooding as the Guadiana River has risen to a height of six metres.
