A 29-year-old coach was arrested in Vila Real de Santo António, Algarve, on suspicion of committing crimes of sexual abuse of children. The victim is a 12-year-old child, the Judiciary Police (PJ) reported on Tuesday, July 7. The arrest took place on Monday, July 6. According to the criminal investigation police, the acts occurred in a sports education context led by the suspect, who took advantage of his influence and the trust he held by sharing electronic images and videos of himself performing sexual acts. The PJ also stated that it was possible to identify other victims. During the investigation, solid evidence was collected, leading to search and arrest warrants. The inquiry is being led by the DIAP of Vila Real de Santo António. During the house search, PJ inspectors seized important evidence, suspecting there are other child victims of the suspect, who exploited his position as a coach. The coach will now be presented to the competent judicial authority for questioning and the application of coercive measures.
