The fire that broke out early this Saturday morning, July 25, in a forest area in Monchique, Algarve, was brought under control at 08:50, with emergency teams remaining on-site for consolidation efforts, a Civil Protection source told Lusa. A total of 107 personnel, 33 ground vehicles, two bulldozers, and three aircraft remain on the scene to prevent potential flare-ups. The fire, which started in a brush and eucalyptus area in Vale de Água, was reported at 04:58. The Monchique municipality is currently at maximum fire risk according to the IPMA. Updated news: More than 160,000 people have already been affected by fires in Spain and France.
