The fire that broke out early this Saturday morning, July 25, in a forest area in Monchique, Algarve, was brought under control at 08:50, with emergency teams remaining on-site for consolidation efforts, a Civil Protection source told Lusa. A total of 107 personnel, 33 ground vehicles, two bulldozers, and three aircraft remain on the scene to prevent potential flare-ups. The fire, which started in a brush and eucalyptus area in Vale de Água, was reported at 04:58. The Monchique municipality is currently at maximum fire risk according to the IPMA. In France, evacuations continue in the outskirts of Bordeaux, with flames 30 kilometres from the city. In Spain, fires have merged near Madrid.
