A 16-year-old student from the Aveiro area was arrested by the Lisbon Judicial Police nearly a month after the crimes occurred.
A 16-year-old was arrested this Wednesday, April 15, by the Judicial Police for the alleged commission of aggravated rape, threats, and sexual coercion, as well as kidnapping and simple threats against two victims, aged 17 and 18. The suspect and victims are classmates in the 10th grade at a secondary school in the Aveiro district. The incidents occurred on the night of March 20 in Lourinhã during a school trip, while staying at a youth hostel. The suspect will be presented for a first judicial interrogation to determine coercive measures.

They were kite surfing between Peniche and Ericeira. The Peniche lifeboat crew rescued them from the sea in Lourinhã.
Lourinhã City Council has requested that the Government prioritise repairs to the National Road 8-2. The collapse of the road following the storms has caused “profound impacts on the daily lives of the population,” it notes.
National Road (EN) 8-2, hit by bad weather at the beginning of February, is still closed to traffic.
The project includes the refurbishment of 16 housing units, involving the replacement of windows and doors, wall coverings, interior flooring, sanitary fixtures, and kitchen cabinets.
Authorities detained the suspect in Lourinhã on the same day they found the body of Maria Custódia Amaral.
The Polícia Judiciária announced the arrest of a suspect believed to be responsible for the death of Maria Amaral, an estate agent who disappeared in Lourinhã; the investigation is ongoing.
The estate agent had been missing for 12 days.
A search of the suspect’s home found traces of blood that served to corroborate 'strong suspicions'. The Judicial Police (PJ) will begin procedures to recover the body from the location where it was hidden.
