Intense rain continues to wreak havoc across the country. In the municipality of Mirandela, the increased river flow flooded two bridges, including the Mosteirô bridge, which was left completely submerged, as shown by CNN Portugal’s reporting team.
A pipe burst overnight on private property, emptying storage tanks. Municipal council technicians repaired the pipe and supply has been restored, but high-lying areas are still awaiting water.
According to the municipality, its technicians carried out repair work throughout the morning and the water supply began to be restored in the early afternoon.
The Miradeses Bridge is located in the parish of Vale de Salgueiro and the Mosteiró Bridge in the parish of Torre de Dona Chama.
The National Laboratory of Energy and Geology says “it is not possible to conclude that the best prospecting practices are being proposed”, but the municipality and the ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests) have already given the green light.
