The Portuguese Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation after reports that a seven-month-old baby was allegedly assaulted at a nursery in Valongo. Authorities are probing the circumstances and possible criminal responsibility.

The baby was seven months old and is reported to have suffered injuries to the head.
Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Valongo confirms the incident, which involved a seven-month-old baby, and says that “the appropriate internal procedures were activated immediately.” A staff member has been suspended as a precaution.
