Emergency teams battle wildfire in Valongo
More than 150 personnel and five aerial assets are currently fighting a wildfire in the Alfena area of Valongo. The operation, which is part of the broader firefighting efforts now in the Charlie phase, has not yet resulted in house evacuations or road closures.
The Charlie phase (fase Charlie) is the highest level of alert for forest fires in Portugal, typically active from July 1 to September 30. During this period, the government increases the number of available firefighters, aircraft, and emergency resources to manage the heightened risk of wildfires during the summer heat.
