The elderly man was found alive at 10:10 am by a Search and Rescue K-9 unit, consisting of a soldier and the dog Arka from the Viseu Territorial Command, on a dirt path in a forest area. The GNR search operations involved various territorial and intervention units, reinforced by an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) team from the Emergency Protection and Relief Unit (UEPS) and K-9 teams. After being located, medical emergency services were immediately called, and the man was transported to a hospital for evaluation. The GNR highlighted the success of the operation, noting the importance of coordination between different operational capabilities, such as K-9 units and drones, in search and rescue missions. In other news, the GNR warns of 'fake accident' scams, with losses exceeding 72,000 euros, and reports a 7.1% increase in GNR applications compared to the last recruitment drive.
