The cultural venue in Câmara de Lobos is displaying the trophies for the Portuguese Cup and the Madeira Cup.

Flames consumed a vast area of brush and forest and put some homes at risk, but there are no reports of casualties or damage.

The residents of Fajã das Galinhas remain in temporary accommodation, two years after being evacuated from the area due to the wildfire that burned in Madeira for 13 consecutive days, between August 14 and 26, 2024.

The group of 120 people, consisting of 33 households, were evacuated from Fajã das Galinhas, although no houses were affected. The only road became impassable.

The 55-year-old victim did not survive stab wounds in Câmara de Lobos. Local police arrested the perpetrator.

The accident occurred this Friday. The English boy fell from a height of 30 metres at the Levada Nova do Castelejo, in the parish of Curral das Freiras.

The victim, who was transferred to the hospital, was rescued by a Civil Protection helicopter, with the participation of fire department resources and the Forestry Police.

The intervened area extends for three kilometres, in the section between the Estrela site and the Curral das Freiras tunnel.

The network trafficked various synthetic drugs in addition to heroin, cocaine, hashish, and MDMA. Five defendants received suspended sentences.

Drugs were purchased online and then sent to Madeira via international mail.

The mayor of Câmara de Lobos indicated that authorities will decide whether it is necessary to permanently relocate families, should there be any danger, based on the conclusions of laboratory assessments.

A large-scale landslide occurred on Friday on a slope at the Seara Velha site, in the parish of Curral das Freiras. The movement of the earth does not pose any “imminent danger”.
