Found dead this Monday in Matur, in the municipality of Machico, the elderly woman showed signs of a violent crime. Her son, who is absent from the scene, is the suspect.

A man suspected of murdering his own mother on the afternoon of Monday, March 23, in the parish of Água de Pena, in the municipality of Machico, is being sought by authorities on the island of Madeira. According to the Diário de Notícias da Madeira, the victim was a retired nurse who was found lifeless by firefighters and PSP officers, with deep neck wounds that may have been caused by a bladed weapon. The suspect, who is on the run, reportedly has a history of mental and psychological disorders and had previously been admitted to the Casa São João de Deus. The Judiciary Police have taken over the investigation of this case.
The firefighter who assaulted his wife in Madeira has been reinstated in the Machico corporation by court decision. He returns to work on April 1st.
