Lawyer and former MP André Pardal will lead a list for the PSD National Council that brings together several members not aligned with the leadership of Luís Montenegro, who was re-elected for a third term. This weekend, at the Congress held at the Sangalhos Velodrome in Anadia, Montenegro will present the team with which he intends to lead the party for the next two years. Unlike previous congresses, where André Pardal and Luís Rodrigues presented separate lists, an agreement was reached to avoid splitting votes among Social Democrats who wish to strengthen a critical yet constructive conscience regarding the party's direction. The joint list, composed of PSD members from across the country, aims to contribute to national governance and development. André Pardal confirmed that current national councillor Paulo Ribeiro will also join the list, which he describes not as an opposition to Montenegro, but as a group of people who are not aligned with the leadership, emphasizing that the party is not one of unanimity. In the previous congress in Braga, the leadership's list, headed by Carlos Moedas, elected 46 members, followed by other lists including those of João Gomes da Silva, André Pardal, and Luís Rodrigues. Montenegro has called for clarification within the PSD without explicitly mentioning Passos Coelho.
