Almeirim has just approved a plan to address the growth in immigration. There are already over 3,000 registered immigrants, and the number of foreign citizens living in the municipality has doubled over the last decade.
At a recent event held at the Imóvel de Valências Variadas, with around 500 participants over two days, a significant portion of visitors had to seek accommodation outside the municipality.
Seguro cancelled a session in Almeirim because of a storm that hit the region and is considering going back to the areas affected by the weather.
The campaign justified the change of plans by referring to the situation on the ground and the emergency plans currently in force.
