In a statement released on Monday, April 13, on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic, it was announced that the President has appointed Professor Miguel Corte-Real Silveira Monjardino to lead the commemorations for Portugal Day, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities. The Presidency notes that Monjardino has been a resident of Terceira for 63 years, is a guest professor of Geopolitics and Geostrategy at the Catholic University of Portugal, and an international politics columnist for the newspaper Expresso. He holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and a master's degree in International Security from the University of Reading in the UK, and is the author of several books.
