A 75-year-old man was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of raping his 71-year-old sister after she filed a complaint with the GNR in Zebreira, Idanha-a-Nova, in the Guarda district. The information was released this Sunday, May 17, by the Judiciary Police, revealing that the arrest took place in the city of Guarda due to the alleged commission of three counts of aggravated rape, 'by virtue of the kinship relationship and the special vulnerability of the victim, his sister'. In a statement, the PJ revealed that the investigation began on May 15, after the victim filed a complaint a few hours after the last assault. The PJ also stated it concluded that 'in the same way, through force and intimidation, the suspect committed two other acts of rape' in April and at the beginning of this month. Initially, the victim was at the Amato Lusitano Hospital in Castelo Branco, and was later transferred to the Coimbra University Hospital Centre, where she was assisted and underwent examinations. The investigation gathered elements 'strongly indicating the reported acts', which is why the suspect was arrested and will be presented to a judge this Monday for questioning and the application of coercive measures.
