The Manteigas City Council is implementing scheduled water supply cuts in the northern part of the town due to a reduction in flow from springs feeding a key reservoir. The measure, in effect since Tuesday night, involves daily service interruptions between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM to allow reservoir levels to recover. Mayor Flávio Massano explained that the issue stems from a landslide in February that destroyed two main springs, compounded by a significant increase in daily water consumption compared to last year. The municipality is working with water utility teams to monitor the system and identify potential leaks, while urging residents to report any water losses. Similar measures have been in place in Almada for several weeks, though recent improvements in water reserves there have allowed for a gradual easing of restrictions.
Service cuts will take place daily between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
