Bumba Meu Boi inspires show about homoaffective relationships

The sound of drums, the party, and the bull's resurrection ritual meet poetry about love and homoaffective relationships in 'Amar um Homem Debaixo do Boi', a show by Brazilian poet and cultural producer João Innecco. The performance will take place at the Óbidos International Literary Festival this Saturday, October 17. The 30-minute solo show combines original poems about affection and homoaffective relationships with elements of Brazilian folk culture, especially the Bumba Meu Boi tradition, aiming to bridge folklore and contemporary themes. The texts, which began in 2018, are now brought together by the artist in a presentation that debuted in May at the Duo Festival in Lisbon.
