The national commander of Civil Protection warned today of “the potential risk of fire” in some regions of the country, such as in the Pedrógão Grande area, where there is a possibility of facing large fires again.
With infrastructure damage caused by Storm Kristin still being addressed, the Castanheira de Pera City Council guarantees that Praia das Rocas will open on May 30th. The venue features a popular wave pool, a bar and restaurant, and bungalow accommodation.

It has the largest wave pool in Portugal and suffered from the storms that hit Leiria hard. Praia das Rocas in Castanheira de Pêra is undergoing renovations and will reopen on May 30th. It will be more expensive.

The zip line twisted due to the force of the wind and the roof of the bar and restaurant suffered damage. The Castanheira de Pera City Council guarantees that everything will be operational by May 30th.

The President laid a wreath this afternoon at the Memorial to the Victims of the 2017 Fires. The monument, located on the National Road 236-1 between Castanheira de Pera and Figueiró dos Vinhos, honours the 115 people who died in the fires of June and October of that year.
The mayor of Castanheira de Pera, in the north of the Leiria district, estimated today that the municipality's losses amounted to five million euros following Storm Kristin, which caused damage to 550 homes.

The municipality says that pupil transport is guaranteed.
