As time passes, thousands of people are losing hope of receiving support to rebuild their homes. In the most affected parish of Leiria, only two out of 400 people have received support.

The mayor did not respond to Nuno Melo's phone call or message, but the minister guaranteed that military aid went ahead regardless. Gonçalo Lopes refused to get involved in controversies over phone calls and thanked the Armed Forces for their work.

The PSD District Political Commission of Leiria accused the mayor of preferring “political individualism and partisan assertion” over the necessary “institutional convergence.”

Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, announced that private landowners will receive vouchers to clear forests damaged by severe weather, with amounts expected to range between 1,000 and 1,500 euros per hectare. The initiative, funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), aims to expedite clearing efforts before the wildfire season, with municipalities likely acting as managing authorities to coordinate the process.
