The 87th edition of the Tour of Portugal (Volta a Portugal) will continue despite the death of 19-year-old British cyclist Finlay Tarling. Tarling died following a collision with a vehicle that entered the race course during the eighth stage in Ponte de Lima. The Portuguese Cycling Federation (Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo or FPC) president Cândido Barbosa confirmed the race will proceed, while authorities investigate how the vehicle gained access to the route.

Finlay Tarling was a 19-year-old British professional cyclist who died following an accident during the eighth stage of the 87th Tour of Portugal (Volta a Portugal). He was a promising young athlete competing in the international cycling circuit.

The FPC (Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo or Portuguese Cycling Federation) is the national governing body responsible for regulating and promoting cycling sports in Portugal. It oversees professional events, including the annual Tour of Portugal, and manages national cycling standards and athlete safety protocols.
