My column last week in DN established a principle: evaluate extremism by the type of threat, not by the ideological axis. This article provides the evidence, and it is uncomfortable. Europol reports show that left-wing and anarchist terrorism has recorded more completed attacks in recent years than other ideological groups. The data exists, but it is largely absent from public debate. The issue is particularly sensitive regarding antisemitism, where radical anti-Zionism has become a point of convergence between the far-left and certain Islamist environments. As these radicalisation patterns grow through digital ecosystems and external conflicts, the question remains whether institutional capacity exists to recognise these threats in time, especially when official security reports choose to omit chapters on extremism for political reasons.
