EU cyberattack response hindered by data sharing failures
The European Court of Auditors (Tribunal de Contas Europeu or ECA) reports that European Union efforts to detect and respond to major cyberattacks are only partially effective. The audit identifies scarce data sharing, reporting shortcomings, and implementation delays as primary obstacles. Officials also noted that a dedicated European Cybersecurity Alert System remains non-operational, limiting the bloc's ability to address digital threats.
The European Court of Auditors (Tribunal de Contas Europeu or ECA) is the independent external auditor of the European Union. Based in Luxembourg, it monitors the collection and spending of EU funds to ensure they are used correctly and effectively, reporting its findings to the European Parliament and the Council of the EU.
