Cheaper rail travel expands to Lisbon and Porto
The government is extending the 20-euro Green Rail Pass (Passe Ferroviário Verde) to include urban train services in Lisbon and Porto starting in the third week of September. This expansion, coinciding with European Mobility Week, also covers the Fertagus line to reduce transport costs for commuters.
The Green Rail Pass (Passe Ferroviário Verde) is a monthly subscription that allows unlimited travel on national train services for a flat fee of €20. Starting in late September 2024, this program expands to include urban train lines in Lisbon and Porto, offering a significant discount compared to standard monthly transit passes.
