On Monday morning, October 12, the press highlights several different topics on their front pages. Público focuses on an investigation into the Rui Pinto case, specifically how the PJ helped Doyen discover the hacker's identity. The main headline, however, goes to an analysis of the 75 municipalities elected without an absolute majority, noting that about 40% of these have agreements with the opposition. Benfica's 2-0 victory over Vitória SC is one of the highlights of Jornal de Notícias, but the lead story is the Government's forecast of a two-billion-euro loss if the economy worsens. Meanwhile, Correio da Manhã, also featuring the Benfica match, reports that the president of Infarmed, Rui Santos Ivo, allegedly asked for a favor from managers at Santa Maria Hospital, a finding linked to the investigation into the twins case. Diário de Notícias features two main stories: on the left, the energy ceasefire announced by Donald Trump, which Zelensky was unaware of. The headline focuses on the shortage of teachers in schools, despite eight thousand teachers being available for placement. In the financial press, the State Budget remains the main headline. Negócios features an interview with the Minister of Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, who described the budget as 'pragmatic'. Jornal Económico highlights the revenue the Government expects to gain from combating fraud, with the State Budget predicting 300 million euros in revenue. Below, however, is news that companies consider this budget 'insufficient' and are calling for more ambition. Other headlines include schools without vacancies, IRS, the crisis in the Brazilian justice system, declining wiretaps, rising state spending on exams outside the NHS, abortions, debt interest, and arbitration controversy.
