Storm Therese brings heavy rain and extreme wind to Portugal
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera or IPMA) has issued warnings for Storm Therese (Depressão Therese), which is expected to affect the country until Saturday. The storm will have the greatest impact on the Center and South regions, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and potential localized extreme wind phenomena. Residents in coastal areas south of Cabo Mondego and inland south of Serra da Estrela should prepare for gusts reaching up to 70 km/h.

IPMA is the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera), the national agency for weather, marine forecasts and climate monitoring. Residents should watch its forecasts and warnings during storms, heatwaves or cold snaps because IPMA issues official advisories used by services, transport operators and local authorities.
