Wildfires persist in Northern Portugal as authorities monitor villages
Firefighters continue to battle intense wildfires in Northern Portugal, with the most significant operation currently centered in Torre de Moncorvo. Authorities are considering the preventive confinement of the village of Lousa as a safety measure while hundreds of personnel and aerial assets work to contain the flames.

The situation has intensified with over 950 personnel now deployed across four major fires in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, and Porto. In Valongo, seven people have been injured, including a firefighter and a civilian reported to be in serious condition, while the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil or ANEPC) continues to coordinate the response under high-temperature weather warnings.
