Council of Ministers approves measures to facilitate evictions in cases of non-compliance
The Government has approved a set of amendments to the tenancy law to restore confidence to landlords and increase the number of homes on the market. Changes include streamlining evictions for repeated non-compliance and accelerating judicial decisions. Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, stated that the goal is to unlock thousands of properties currently off the market, including 250,000 homes in good condition and 130,000 requiring renovation. The package also includes measures to resolve undivided inheritances through arbitration to prevent individual heirs from blocking property sales or rentals, and the creation of an emergency housing fund.
