07:00 — Bad weather: tree falls onto car and kills one person

The victim was the driver of a light goods vehicle travelling on National Road 1 who died after a tree fell. The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) also forecasts coastal winds of up to 160 km/h.

Civil Protection reports strong winds but no casualties. By 22:00 there had been 1,500 incidents. Six districts are on maximum alert; winds may reach 160 km/h.
