Ten districts of mainland Portugal will be under an orange warning, the second-highest, from Monday to Wednesday because of rough seas, the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced today.
The National Maritime Authority and the Navy warned today of forecasts for a 'considerable deterioration' in sea conditions in the North region from 18:00 on Friday until Sunday night, with waves that could reach 12 metres.
IPMA has once again upgraded the warning for rough sea conditions affecting Madeira.
This warning is in force until 03:00 on Sunday.
The regional maritime authority warns that wave heights will gradually rise to around 6.5 metres on the north coast from late Saturday morning.
Waves may reach up to 5 metres in height.
