Two women, aged 51 and approximately 75, died this Sunday after their car skidded off the IC1 near Aldeia de Palheiros, in the municipality of Ourique, Beja district, according to fire services and Civil Protection. The Baixo Alentejo Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection reported that the accident, alerted at 12:13, occurred at kilometer 676.200 of the IC1. Ourique Fire Chief Mário Batista confirmed the vehicle fell down a 15-meter ravine. The victims were the only occupants of the car, and their deaths were declared at the scene by a medical team from Albufeira. Emergency operations involved 21 personnel and nine vehicles, including the INEM helicopter from Évora, which was later stood down.
