Traffic is currently restricted, with the northbound lane closed, though vehicles are being diverted through the opposite lane. The source, who could not yet confirm the gender or age of the victims, stated that the alert was received at 07:16. 15 personnel and 10 vehicles were mobilised to the scene, including firefighters, the GNR, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) – which dispatched the emergency medical and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) from Beja hospital – and the company Estradas da Planície.
The death was declared at the scene by a doctor from the INEM helicopter. A 41-year-old woman who was in the car sustained minor injuries.
The victim was transported by the INEM helicopter, based in Évora, to the Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon.
There are no reports of injuries and the house is no longer habitable, according to a source from the sub-regional command.
The scenario is “very identical” to that of 2025.
