Man drives car for two kilometres along Porto Metro line

A 78-year-old man drove his car along the metro line between Senhora da Hora station in Matosinhos and Ramalde station in Porto this Monday, March 30, where he was intercepted by security guards, a Metro source revealed to Lusa. According to the source, the car travelled about two kilometres on the tracks, passing through the Sete Bicas and Viso stations. The alert was raised at 13:50, and once the car was immobilised, it was noted that the driver appeared disoriented. He was assisted by an INEM medical team and subsequently taken to hospital. The incident caused a 15-minute delay to services, and the car was moved to the Ramalde station platform, where it will remain until 01:00 on Tuesday to be removed by a tow truck when trains are no longer running. Services have since been restored.
