Former National Examination Jury president Luís Duque de Almeida criticizes the Ministry of Education's decision to generalize digital grading for national exams without proper evaluation of pilot projects, citing a lack of planning and potential risks.
The National Examination Board is initiating the gradual distribution of exam responses to teachers following technical disruptions in the digital grading system, with the first set of results expected by July 14.
This year, around 166,000 secondary school students took national exams on paper, with the approximately 190,000 tests being digitised and graded in this format for the first time.
During the first phase of the national exams, “unexpected IT problems” and “issues associated with the flow of information between the test preparation platform and the digital grading platform” were found. Luís Pereira dos Santos guaranteed that the necessary “corrective processes” have been implemented so that the second phase of the exams “is safer and calmer”.
Despite “IT difficulties” with the Eduqa platform, the president says that the necessary corrections were made throughout the process.
The exam grading platform is undergoing maintenance until this Friday. The “updates” aim to resolve the “constraints” reported by teachers. Some educators are already receiving continuation sheets, which were previously missing.
