Support available for storm-damaged cultural heritage sites
The government has opened applications for a 12-million-euro financial support mechanism to restore cultural assets damaged by storms in January and February. Managed by the Cultural Heritage Institute (Instituto do Património Cultural), the funding is intended for urgent interventions in museums and monuments that have reported physical damage.
The Cultural Heritage Institute (Instituto do Património Cultural or IPC) is the government body responsible for the protection, conservation, and management of Portugal's historical and cultural assets. It oversees funding and technical support for the restoration of buildings and artifacts that are classified as national heritage.
