Emergency services are currently battling multiple wildfires, including a large blaze in Agrelos, Alijó, which has mobilized 146 personnel and eight aerial assets. A separate fire in Mafra also required the deployment of over 100 responders and seven aerial units. To bolster national capacity, the company Avincis has leased two additional Super Scooper aircraft to assist in firefighting efforts through mid-October.
Update: Alijó wildfire situation improves as IC5 road reopens
The wildfire in Alijó has been reduced to a single active front, and traffic on the IC5 complementary route has returned to normal. While the situation is now considered favorable by Civil Protection, the blaze previously mobilized over 400 personnel when it threatened local homes.
