The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera or IPMA) has placed 17 districts under a yellow weather warning until 9:00 PM this Saturday. The alerts, which exclude Viana do Castelo, warn of potential thunderstorms, heavy rain, and wind gusts reaching up to 90 km/h.
Update: IPMA expands yellow weather warnings to 17 districts
IPMA updated its alert status earlier today, adding Porto, Aveiro, and Braga to the list of districts under yellow warning. The warnings now cover most of the country due to a combination of high temperatures and the risk of severe weather, including heavy precipitation and lightning.
