Green hydrogen is hydrogen produced by electrolysis using renewable electricity and water, which creates little or no CO2 compared with hydrogen made from fossil fuels. A large unit starting production in the second half of this year can supply industry and heavy transport, create local jobs and help Portugal export low‑carbon energy, so energy sector observers and nearby communities should watch its start‑up and offtake plans.
