Tax and Customs Authority

National tax authority, commonly called 'Finanças.' Manages all tax collection, audits, and compliance. Portal das Finanças is the online platform for tax declarations.

IRS

Imposto sobre o Rendimento das Pessoas Singulares

Personal Income Tax

Progressive tax on worldwide income for residents, ranging from 14.5% to 48%. Annual filing required between April-June for previous calendar year.

IVA

Imposto sobre o Valor Acrescentado

Value Added Tax

Standard rate is 23% (reduced rates: 13% intermediate, 6% basic). Charged on most goods and services.

IRC

Imposto sobre o Rendimento das Pessoas Coletivas

Corporate Income Tax

Standard corporate tax rate is 21%. Applies to companies and self-employed individuals under organized accounting regimes.

Imposto Municipal sobre as Transmissões Onerosas de Imóveis

Municipal Property Transfer Tax

One-time tax on property purchases, ranging 0-8% based on property value and type. Must be paid before property registration.

Municipal Property Tax

In Continental Portugal, there are three major emergency medical services providers: the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM (pronounced [iˈnɛm]), the fire departments, and the Portuguese Red Cross.INEM is the agency of the Portuguese Ministry of Health responsible for coordinating the Integrated Medical Emergency System (SIEM) of Continental Portugal, and directly providing some of its emergency medical services.

Mandatory energy efficiency rating for properties (A+ to F). Required for property sales or rentals. Valid for 10 years from issuance date.
