Brazilian cinema continues its rise in Portugal with the upcoming release of the documentary 'Explode São Paulo, Gil' this Thursday (12). The film follows the story of Gil, a woman who moved to São Paulo at 20 with dreams of becoming a singer, and now works as a cleaner. Director Maria Clara Escobar captures their dialogue, blending reality and performance to reflect on themes of work, fame, and the pursuit of art. The award-winning documentary, which has been featured at festivals like Doclisboa, will have a special screening at Cinema Ideal in Lisbon with the director in attendance.
