Fernando Pimenta wins double gold at World Championships
Portuguese canoeist Fernando Pimenta secured two gold medals at the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznan, Poland, winning both the K1 1000m and K1 5000m events. At 37, Pimenta became the oldest athlete to win a world title in the 5000m distance. Meanwhile, judoka Patrícia Sampaio earned a bronze medal in the -78 kg category at the Lausanne Grand Slam in Switzerland.
