The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum has reopened to the public following a renovation aimed at restoring the original 1969 architectural vision. Led by architects Frédéric Ladonne and Teresa Nunes da Ponte, the project reintroduced original design elements such as wall silks, carpeting in European galleries, and improved natural lighting. The museum, which houses the collection of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian, now features a more fluid layout that reconnects the galleries with the surrounding gardens designed by António Viana Barreto and Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles. Museum director Xavier F. Salomon emphasized the importance of preserving the building as an architectural masterpiece, noting that the renovation also integrated more pieces from the collection, including a newly highlighted numismatics display.
