A garbage truck accident in Lisbon has resulted in three injuries and significant traffic disruption, while authorities investigate the cause of the vehicle overturning.

A Rede Expressos bus caught fire this Sunday, June 28, on the A8 motorway in the Lousa area, Loures municipality, requiring fire brigade intervention and the closure of the road. Although the bus was completely destroyed by the flames, there were no reports of serious injuries among the approximately 30 passengers on board, and only one person required medical assistance at the scene for smoke inhalation, without needing hospital transport. According to CNN Portugal, all occupants had already evacuated the bus by their own means by the time emergency services arrived, with the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Rede Expressos confirmed there were no casualties and stated that passengers were transferred to other vehicles, adding that all luggage was removed before the fire consumed the bus. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The incident caused traffic disruption on the A8 while firefighting and vehicle removal operations were underway. About twenty emergency personnel supported by several rescue vehicles were at the scene.
As Observador was able to witness on site, a long line of heavy traffic has formed and a large column of smoke is visible in the area of the incident.
So far, it has not been possible to determine the causes of the fire or if there are any injuries.
