Estão elaborados 90% dos planos de gestão das áreas protegidas - Notícias ao Minuto
Portugal has completed approximately 90% of its management plans for protected areas, with around 50 of 61 plans finalized. The remaining plans, especially for areas affected by recent wildfires like Serra da Estrela, are delayed due to the need for revisions and adaptations. The government highlights that Portugal was legally required to develop these plans since the 1990s but only made significant progress after 2015. The European Court of Justice is preparing to impose a fine of up to €100 million on Portugal for non-compliance, a decision dating back to 2016. The Minister of Environment emphasized ongoing efforts to address these issues and called for recognition of the work done to avoid penalties.
