No one thought about getting a raise, working less, or having a decent home. Only Freedom, because with it came the end of the war and, most likely, a series of other consequences that the people, in due time, would demand. It is that Freedom, with a capital letter (uppercase, as they say in typography), that many do not know how, or do not want, to celebrate.
