“Growth is not enough”: Government wants a stronger economy prepared for crises

The challenge for the Portuguese economy is not just to grow, but to grow with resilience, productivity, and responsiveness, stated Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, at a congress in Lisbon. The minister highlighted the government's focus on mobilizing European funds, boosting public and private investment, and fostering internationalization. He also noted the need for the state to demonstrate a capacity to respond to calamities, such as the severe weather experienced earlier this year, while emphasizing the importance of convergence, competitiveness, and prosperity in an increasingly unpredictable global economy.
