While the current leadership, headed by spokesperson Inês Sousa Real, maintains that its functions remain legitimate, internal opposition led by Carolina Pia argues that any new congress called by the current board will also be legally contested, citing precedents where improperly elected bodies lacked the authority to convene new elections.
