Car Paint Shop Explosion in Pombal Seriously Injures Four

An explosion at an automotive repair workshop in Albergaria dos Doze, in the municipality of Pombal, left four people severely burned and a fifth slightly injured on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency services dispatched two helicopters from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica) to airlift the most critically injured patients to hospitals in Lisbon. The National Republican Guard (Guarda Nacional Republicana) and local firefighters secured the perimeter, which borders homes and the Northern Railway Line (Linha do Norte).
