The award-winning documentary 'Notes on an Exile', by Brazilian director Gustavo Castro, will be screened this Wednesday (18) as part of the DOC.Coimbra programme at the Gil Vicente Academic Theatre (TAGV). A co-production between Brazil and Palestine, the film revisits footage shot in the West Bank in 2018 to reflect on events following 7 October 2023. The screening is scheduled for 18:30. The film begins with the meeting of a Brazilian-Palestinian family in the West Bank, originally intended as a record of possibilities for coexistence in occupied land. With recent developments in the conflict, the work takes on a new shape, becoming a reflection on colonisation, apartheid, genocide and the proliferation of war images produced by the victims themselves.
