A 17-year-old boy went missing on Wednesday, April 1st, at Dragão Vermelho beach in Costa da Caparica, Almada. Search efforts resumed on Thursday morning after being suspended at nightfall the previous day. The alert was received at 16:55 via lifeguards from the Frente Urbana Lifeguard Association, with operations coordinated by the Captain of the Port and local commander of the Lisbon Maritime Police. According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the youth was playing football with friends before entering the sea and disappearing. The search involves crews from the Cascais Lifeboat Station, Lisbon Maritime Police, and local lifeguards, with psychological support also activated. The AMN warns that despite rising temperatures, the sea remains dangerous and most beaches are currently without lifeguard surveillance, prompting a reinforcement of safety measures under the 'Safe Beach' and 'SeaWatch' programs.
