Chinese tech firm Xiaomi announced this Friday, the 24th, that it will launch the high-performance YU7 GT electric SUV in May, featuring nearly 1,000 horsepower and a range of over 700 kilometres. Company founder and CEO Lei Jun stated at the Beijing Auto Show that the YU7 GT is positioned in the high-performance segment, combining performance with long-distance travel capabilities. The vehicle boasts 1,003 horsepower, a top speed of 300 km/h, and a range of approximately 705 kilometres under the Chinese CLTC standard. Developed with input from Xiaomi's European R&D centre in Munich and tested at the Nürburgring, the model follows the success of the SU7, which saw 230,000 units delivered in its first 10 months. Xiaomi aims to sell 550,000 electric vehicles in 2026 and plans to expand into the European market by 2027, supported by a 76% rise in 2025 profits driven by AI and EV sales.
