Six districts in mainland Portugal will be under a yellow warning on Friday and Saturday due to forecasts of strong sea conditions, according to the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). The warning for the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra, and Braga will be in effect from 9:00 PM on Friday until 6:00 PM on Saturday, due to predicted northwest waves of 4 to 5 metres. The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for activities dependent on weather conditions. For today, the IPMA forecasts generally clear skies on the mainland, with morning cloudiness on the north and central coast, generally light winds, morning mist or fog, significant nocturnal cooling, and a slight rise in temperature. Minimum temperatures will range between 4 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) and 10 (in Lisbon and Portalegre), and maximums between 15 (in Guarda, Porto, Aveiro, and Viana do Castelo) and 21 (in Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal, Évora, and Faro). It took only 15 days for this February to become the rainiest month in the last 47 years. Twelve mainland districts were under a yellow warning due to snow and rough seas.
