Porto, Faro, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under an orange warning from Monday to Wednesday.
The islands of São Miguel and Santa Maria, in the eastern Azores group, will be under a yellow warning for wind from 14:00 on Sunday until 08:00 on Monday.

The meteorological institute has issued red warnings for extremely rough seas — with swells up to 15 metres — for Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo overnight from Friday into Saturday, while the broader west coast remains on orange. The three districts will be downgraded to an orange warning between 03:00 and 18:00 on Saturday. Authorities warn of significant risk to maritime operations, coastal infrastructure and public safety; residents and mariners are advised to avoid the shore, follow local advisories and expect disruptions to ferry services and port activity.

Ten coastal districts on the mainland are under a red alert today until 21:00 due to rough sea conditions, with waves that may reach up to 14 metres, the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced.

The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) upgraded coastal warnings as Depression Joseph crossed mainland Portugal, placing the mainland coast under a red warning for dangerous swell and issuing orange warnings for wind across all mainland districts except Bragança. IPMA also flagged orange warnings for snowfall in affected areas. By 20:00 more than 700 incidents had been reported and at least one family was rehoused in Oeiras, prompting heightened public-safety advisories for coastal and exposed communities.

Weather warnings have been issued for multiple districts for rain, snowfall and rough sea conditions, which may affect road and marine safety and travel.
